FRISCO, Texas and NEW YORK (Sept. 18, 2024) - A team of 16 PGA of America Golf Professionals will run the TCS New York City Marathon - one of 60 adult and youth races produced annually by nonprofit New York Road Runners - November 3. They will be running in support of the PGA of America REACH Foundation, the 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the Association, with a goal of raising $115,000.

The 2024 race will be the eighth consecutive year the PGA of America REACH Foundation is an Official Charity Partner of the TCS New York City Marathon. Since 2017, 47 PGA of America Golf Professional runners have raised over $365,000 and covered 1,965 miles in New York City to help impact lives through the game of golf.

The 16 runners will raise awareness and donations to support the four pillars of the Foundation: PGA Jr. League, PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), PGA WORKS and PGA Places to Play. The Foundation will be among the 599 official charity partners providing thousands of runners an opportunity to run in the world’s most popular marathon.

“PGA of America Golf Professionals are known for wearing many hats,” said PGA of America President John Lindert, PGA Director of Golf at the Country Club of Lansing (Michigan). “From coaching to managing golf facilities worldwide to spearheading successful business operations, their versatility is impressive. Our 16 PGA of America Golf Professionals will showcase a skill you won’t likely see at their facilities, running 26.2 miles for a great cause. We extend our best wishes to our 16 runners and express gratitude for their support of the PGA of America REACH Foundation.”

New York Road Runners is a mission-driven nonprofit with the aim of building healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running. New York Road Runners’ Official Charity Partner Program offers an opportunity for other nonprofit organizations to raise funds to support their missions and services. Participating charities can offer guaranteed entry to runners who fundraise on their behalf.

Since its inception in 2006, the TCS New York City Marathon Official Charity Partner Program has raised more than $520 million for more than 1,000 nonprofit organizations across the globe. Before the start of the program, the Marathon had served as an outlet for individual philanthropic runners since the 1980s.

“New York Road Runners is proud to support the PGA of America Reach Foundation team and the incredible impact they make in the community as they raise important funds to benefit lives through the game of golf,” said Christine Burke, NYRR’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Runner Products. “The TCS New York City Marathon is the BEST DAY in New York, building communities and transforming lives through running, and provides participants a major platform to spotlight this specific cause that means so much to them.”
